I Must be NASA Presidential Candidate in 2022 - Kalonzo Musyoka Declares

Tension is looming in the National Super Alliance (NASA) following an announcement by Kalonzo Musyoka that he must be the coalition's flag bearer in the 2022 presidential race.

Speaking in Machakos, Mr Musyoka declared that no other candidate in the Opposition would compete against him come 2022.

He noted that NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga would only be a one term President after which he would take over in 2022 General Election.

"Without hiding anything from you, Raila Odinga will occupy the presidency for five years and we have agreed... in writing, not like the previous arrangement which was neither here nor there.

"Now it is clearly agreed that Raila will help Kenya transit to the next level and in 2022 it will be Kalonzo Musyoka and no other story," he stated.

The Wiper leader stated that NASA would win the August elections and accused the Jubilee administration of scheming tension in perceived Opposition strongholds.

"We are urging our supporters to be extremely alert and keep vigil at the polling centres because we have information that Jubilee has been scheming to threaten voters from certain communities residing in major cities," he stated.

The former Vice-President took a swipe at the President and his deputy for attacking the Judiciary stating that independence of the constitutional bodies should be respected.

Musyoka's remarks could put NASA in a tight spot as other coalition principals, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula had also expressed their desire to vie for the top seat in 2022.
