A researcher at the Pentagon-affiliated, Africa Center for Strategic Studies has predicted that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will get a narrow victory in the August elections.
Dr Godfrey Musila was speaking during in a think-tank panel meeting held the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, a prominent international affairs research institute based in Washington, US.
The panel met to hold a discussion concerning Kenya's General Election set for next month.
According to Dr Musila, NASA’s victory will be because of the huge support the coalition has in the Southern part of the vote-rich Rift Valley region.
Dr Musila is an attorney with extensive experience in Africa, particularly the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region.
He has researched, designed and reviewed policies, and provided advice or training in several African countries.
Musila’s announcement comes after Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) released a poll showing that the National Super Alliance (NASA) is the most preferred coalition in Nairobi.
According to the findings released last week, if elections were held at that time, NASA-led by Raila Odinga would emerge victorious in Nairobi with 56 % as compared to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party with 34%.
Earlier on, Research firm Infotrak had released a poll revealing that President Kenyatta's lead was getting narrower while Mr Odinga was gaining ground ahead of the August polls.
The poll indicated that President Kenyatta would win by 48 per cent against Raila's 43 percent.
