NASA to Announce Presidential Results if IEBC Delays

Siaya Senator James Orengo on Thursday stated that the National Super Alliance (NASA) would announce its tallied presidential results if the IEBC delays in releasing the August 8th poll results.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Alego Usonga, Senator Orengo mentioned that the move to announce the poll outcome was meant to prepare the public should the IEBC try to compromise the results.

The Legislator defended the move explaining that the law does not direct any party to wait for the IEBC results to make known its tallied version.

“As IEBC will be counting, we will also count. When they transmit, our agents will also transmit,” he stated.

The Senator reiterated their plans to ensure that their votes are protected stating that NASA would give its agents high-tech phones for scanning presidential result forms for transmission to their secure servers.

NASA and IEBC are currently engaged in heated court battles challenging the procurement of Presidential ballot papers.

IEBC is seeking orders for the quashing of a High Court ruling that directed the poll body to issue a fresh tender for Presidential ballot papers.

NASA, on the other hand, wants IEBC to issue the tender to a new firm on grounds that Al Ghurair, the Dubai-based firm that was issued with the tender, has links with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
