Lamu Politicians Behind Recent Terror Attacks in Region- Marwa States

Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has accused politicians in Lamu county of masterminding the recent terror attacks in the region.

Marwa was speaking on Sunday where he cited a political motive to the abduction of Public Works Principal Secretary Mariam El Maawy.

He noted that only persons and places affiliated to the Jubilee Party had been targeted by the terror attacks and further questioned the silence of the Lamu politicians.

"Why hasn’t the governor or any leader for that matter come out to even issue a condolence message to the families who lost their loved ones?"

"Whats the meaning of their silence? The terrorists are given food and weapons as they pass through villages when they go to conduct raids,” he stated.

He added that the politicians were thriving with insecurity leading up to the election as the situation would force locals to flee and fail to vote in the August 8 general election.

Highlighting that attacks in Poromoko, Pandanguo and Jima areas were targeted to scare away voters Marwa stated that he had information of politicians who were funding criminals.

Late last week El Maawy was shot and injured by Al Shabaab militants who killed three other people in the attack.

On Saturday, the body of her body guard, Police officer Ayub Ole Ndoloni was recovered badly burnt near the scene of the Thursday attack.
