A Nairobi pastor on Wednesday announced that he would mobilize other City preachers to sue Opposition Leader Raila Odinga over his recent remarks that couples should not engage in sex on the eve of the elections.
Pastor Godfrey Migwi of the Hope Church noted that sex was a conjugal right and as such, Mr Odinga should not urge women to deny their husbands sex until they vote.
“The Bible is clear on conjugal rights, thus I’m mobilizing my fellow preachers so that we can plan on how to sue NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga for the remarks ” he stated.
He accused the NASA flag bearer of mocking God and going against the Bible which allowed couples to engage in sex.
Migwi stated that such remarks only fit the elderly since they could break marriages of many young couples in the country who still had a long way in building their families.
"As a preacher, I’ve handled several cases where spouses part when one party denied another his or her sex rights thus he and any other leader ought not to be taken seriously at all," Migwi stated.
On Monday, the ODM leader advised his supporters to desist from sexual intercourse on the eve of elections.
Mr Odinga, who was speaking during a rally in Homa Bay County, stressed that couples should abstain so as to turn out in large numbers to vote on the following day, after which they would celebrate after sending Jubilee Party home.
He likened the election to a war, saying sex before the day warriors go to battle is a bad omen that could result in defeat.
“We are going into a war and we must fully conserve our energies before the day of battle, which is August 8.
“None of us should have sex on the eve of the polls,” he stated.
Women, he said, should not consent to get intimate with their husbands on the night of August 7th lest they fail to wake up early to vote.
