President Uhuru Kenyatta Holds Meeting with Ali Baba Group Chairman Jack Ma

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday held a meeting with Chinese billionaire entrepreneur Mr Jack Ma.

The President and Mr Ma discussed ways of empowering the youth through entrepreneurship majorly focusing on how to empower the youth through trade and innovation.

The President also engaged the richest man in Asia in a discussion on how to cooperate in supporting small businesses and the youth to play a bigger role in the country's economy.

The Chinese Billionaire noted that Kenya had the potential to grow and could create more opportunities for trade through the use of e-commerce.

President Kenyatta said the Chinese businessman was an inspiration for millions of youth in Africa and especially in Kenya where the young generation has been setting global trends in innovation and technology.

The meeting was also attended by Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed, and Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

Mr Ma was accompanied by other 38 Chinese Tycoons from the Beijing Chamber of Commerce. The tycoons include Alibaba’s Founding Partner Lucy Peng, Internet tycoon Bob Xu, Founder and Chairman of Mengniu Dairy Niu Gensheng and Real Estate Tycoon Huang Youlong.

The billionaires, who will be in Kenya for two days, will be scouting for business deals with the government and local business men.

Mr Ma is currently Asia’s richest man with a net worth of 30 billion dollars.
