Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka's Campaigner Robert Barasa Shot Dead

Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka's campaigner was on Thursday shot dead at Chebukwabi Village in Kimilili.

Mr Robert Barasa was reportedly shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Barasa's wife, Zipporah Barasa, noted that the assailants who attacked them were five in number and that they shot and injured one of their children.

"They held all of us, hostage, ransacked each room and demanded to know the whereabouts of my husband who was hiding in one of the rooms," she stated.

Police confirmed the incident stating that they had launched investigations into the murder.

Bungoma county police commandant Charles Munyoli stated that they would leave will no stone unturned in their investigations.

Governor Lusaka Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa visited the home where they condemned the attack and called for speedy investigations.

"I have been hit hard. This man was key to my re-election bid," Lusaka stated.

CS Wamalwa on his part stated that any forms political intolerance in the country should be dealt with firmly to avoid losing lives before during and after the elections.

"Enough is is enough. Why should innocent people be maimed in the name of politics?" he posed.
