Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar Tells Governor Hassan Joho to Stop Abusing President Uhuru Kenyatta

Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, who is the Secretary General of Wiper Party - one of the parties that form the NASA coalition - has warned Governor Ali Hassan Joho against hurling insults at President Uhuru Kenyatta to look for sympathy votes.

Speaking during a rally at Tononoka grounds in Mvita, Mr Omar told Joho that he should focus on development and deliver the promises he made when he was elected.

"Abusing the President is not heroism.

"We can only celebrate you if you deliver on the development promises you made and created jobs for the jobless youth," said Mr Omar.

The Senator will go head to head with Joho for the Mombasa governorship seat in one of the most anticipated battles in the August elections.

During the rally, he also took time to drum up support for himself saying he was the most qualified candidates for the Mombasa Governor seat.

Last week at a rally in Kilifi County, President Kenyatta accused Joho of inciting disaffection against him and sabotaging his development agenda for the Coast.

In response, the Mombasa Governor claimed the Jubilee Party was trying to unleash propaganda to persuade upcountry voters to flee the Coast before the August poll.

Joho further alleged that Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa had been ordered to harass political leaders in Lamu in pursuit of Jubilee Party's agenda.

President Kenyatta and Governor Joho have been at loggerheads for a while now and this led to the Governor being barred from attending the grand launch of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) which took place in his county.
