President Uhuru Kenyatta Meets Samburu County Leaders at State House Nairobi

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday evening held a meeting with Samburu County leaders after snubbing the much-anticipated 2017 presidential debate.

President Kenyatta met the leaders at State House, Nairobi, where they discussed the recent attacks on ranchers in the County.

During the meeting, the Head of State noted that attacks on people and destruction of property would not go unpunished.

President Kenyatta stated that he swore to protect all Kenyans without discrimination and will not renege on that mandate.

“I swore to protect all lives and all property in Kenya. That is a point you must always take to mind,” President Kenyatta stated.

Referring to the conflict between Samburu herders and ranchers in Laikipia County, President Kenyatta asked the leaders to embrace dialogue to resolve the wrangles instead of taking the law into their own hands.

The President mentioned that he had a special attachment to Samburu County and is ready to work with the leaders to transform the lives of residents, warning that he would not tolerate any acts violating the law.

“Whatever problems there are, let us resolve them peacefully to the satisfaction of the people of Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana and Laikipia counties,” he noted.

Meanwhile, as the President was meeting the leaders, Opposition Leader Raila Odinga attended the 2017 Presidential debate where he elaborated on some of the pledges he would implement if elected President.

Mr Odinga promised to; reduce rent, improve security in the country and standardize the economy and the cost of living.
