Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga’s Political Adviser Ochieng Mawere's Home Bombed

The home of Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga’s Political Adviser was petrol bombed on Monday by unknown persons in Bondo.

Ochieng Mawere, who was woken up by a loud bang, said the thugs locked all houses in the compound before they blew up the petrol bomb.

"I peeped through the window and saw a huge fire at my parking lot. I tried to open the doors but they were locked from outside,” Mawere narrated.

He added, "I suspect the attack was politically instigated. On several occasions, I have received threats to stop campaigning for Rasanga."

Mawere stated he was rescued by neighbours who broke the locked doors before the police arrived at the scene.

The County Official noted the gang did not steal anything in the compound apart from hurling petrol bombs.

Bondo OCPD Paul Kiarie confirmed the incident stating that they had launched investigations to ascertain who was behind the attack.

"We have taken some of the samples from the scene for fingerprint identification. In not less than a week, the culprits will be in custody," Kiarie expressed.

Governor Rasanga is looking to defend his seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

This comes barely a week after Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka's chief campaigner Edward Barasa was shot dead at his Kibingei home.
