Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala Caught on Camera Allegedly Handing Out Money

Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala has been put on the spot after a photo of him apparently bribing voters was shared on social media.

Wanjala, who is seeking the Budalangi seat on an ODM Party ticket, was pictured holding a wand of Sh50 notes sparking a heated debate on social media

In his defence, the legislator claimed that the photo was taken at a church and the money was meant to be offertory.

"I was in church at Buyuku area in Budalangi and I was taking my offertory," he said adding that he had gone to church to seek blessings ahead of the polls.

According to the former MP, he saw no need to cover the money adding that those who took the photo did so to tarnish his name.

Politicians stand to suffer dire consequences for voter bribery or taking part in Harambees in the run-up to the election.

Mr Raphael had in February vowed and assured of unseating his counterpart Ababu Namwamba.
