The National Treasury has released a report showing that Sh384.25 Million needed to facilitate the presidential swearing-in ceremony is missing in the national budget.
This is after Parliament failed to include the money in the budget for the year starting June.
In March, State House lobbied MPs to include the Sh384.2 Million in the Presidency budget for the occasion.
The report by Treasury, however, showed the budget for the assumption of office remained unfunded to date.
Apart from the swearing in ceremony, the money is required to facilitate communication between the incoming and the outgoing president.
The Business Daily reports that the funds are also required to prepare the president elect, organise new staff, security and briefings from top government officials to the new president.
The swearing-in happens 14 days after the declaration of presidential results if no election petition is filed.
The Assumption of the Office of President Act states that an ad hoc committee chaired by Secretary to the Cabinet is required to prepare a programme for the swearing in ceremony immediately after the polls.
In 2013, 11 Heads of States attended the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
