The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Monday suffered a major blow after a group of ODM and ANC officials joined President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party (JP).
The Nakuru County officials of the two parties cited frustration by the top leadership of ODM and ANC as their main reason for shifting.
Mr Charles Dulo (ODM Nakuru branch secretary) and Wilson Omolisia (ANC Nakuru branch secretary) announced their defection on Monday and were received by Nakuru JP chairman David Manyara, MPs Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West) and Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), and other Jubilee candidates.
Mr Omolisia noted that his party was not respecting grassroots officials forcing him to jump ship.
"I was the secretary for ANC party but ODM has been interfering with the party's affairs. I could no longer bear it and this made me resign from the position to support Jubilee, where grassroots leaders are respected," Omolisia explained.
Mr Dulo on his part stated that ODM did not respect the voice of the people in the nominations and had instead snatched party tickets from the people who genuinely won.
"Several MCAs and a parliamentary candidate won the nominations fairly but the nomination certificates were awarded to handpicked individuals," Dulo stated.
The function was also attended by Luo and Luhya elders from the County who urged residents to re-elect President Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, on Tuesday, August 8th during the elections.
The elders noted that the Jubilee government had shown respect for all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation.
Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama on his part assured the residents that their security was guaranteed and asked them to ignore propaganda being spread targeting certain communities to leave the county.
