President Uhuru Kenyatta Threatens to Punish Chiefs During Makueni Rally

President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to punish Chiefs working with the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Speaking during a rally in Wote, Makueni County, President Kenyatta stated that his administration had given the chiefs a lifeline and boosted their position.

Mr Kenyatta threatened to take action against the officials if he wins the August 8 General Election.

"We know what you are doing and we shall deal with you after the elections," the President stated.

"You should appreciate that the allowances you are drawing and the motorcycles you ride are properties of Jubilee,” he added.

Uhuru observed that his government had allowed the Chiefs to remain in office while the Opposition had been pushing for the scrapping of provincial administrations after adoption of the 2010 Constitution.

The Opposition wanted chiefs, their assistants, District Officers, DCs and PCs sent home, arguing they were an unnecessary duplication and a threat to devolution.

The Head of State was in Makueni to drum up support for the Jubilee Party.

Earlier on, Kenyatta was forced to cut short his speech after he was heckled and booed by a section of the residents.

The crowd interrupted part of his speech by chanting pro-NASA songs.
