National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga's bid for Presidency has received a major boost after being endorsed by 5 trade unions.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion, while speaking on behalf of the unions accused the government of mistreating workers and urged teachers to support Odinga's bid.
Sossion further noted that there had been a poor relationship between the government and the workers citing the numerous strikes that have hit the country in the past five years.
He led four other trade unions; the Dock Workers Unions, University Academic Staff Union (UASU), Nurses Union and the Doctors Union in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NASA.
On his part, Mr Odinga welcomed the endorsement stating that his government would ensure a harmonious relationship with workers.
" You cannot run away from a collective bargaining agreement, you have to negotiate. Strikes are costly. We will ensure that no worker is discriminated against," Odinga stated.
The former Prime Minister stated that a NASA government would eradicate corruption and ensure that institutions are strengthened to fight the mess.
"We will face corruption head on by ensuring corruption fighting entities are empowered to work and bring the corrupt to book," he stated.
The NASA leader met the trade union officials in Mombasa County where they are expected to hold a rally later in the day.
