Baringo IEBC Official Spotted Changing Ballot Papers, Ballot Boxes Destroyed

There was tension in Baringo County after angry residents destroyed ballot boxes from one of the polling stations on Wednesday morning.

The residents allege that the Presiding Officer of Idepe Nursery Polling Station was spotted trying to open the seals and change the ballot papers.

This prompted the irate residents to destroy the ballot boxes from that polling station at Marigat tallying centre.

It was not immediately confirmed whose votes the official was trying to change.

Provisional results from Baringo show that Stanley K Kiptis from Jubilee Party is on his way to clinching the Governorship seat while President Uhuru Kenyatta had already garnered 86.11% of the votes against Raila Odinga 13.31% in the county.

Earlier on, there was anxiety in Mandera County after a smashed ballot paper was found at a polling station.

Meanwhile in Igmebe Central, Meru County, goons have been reported to have attacked IEBC officials before destroying ballot papers.
