Othaya MP-elect Collects Winning Certificate in an Ambulance

Othaya Member of Parliament-elect Gichuki Mugambi was driven to collect his winning certificate from the area tallying centre in an ambulance.

He was received by his supporters amid songs of celebration at Munaini Primary School in Othaya town following his victory.

He thanked voters for electing him and it can be remembered that during Jubilee Party nominations, he beat outgoing Othaya MP Mary Wambui.

Mugambi, who was vying on a Jubilee Party ticket, garnered 29,949 votes against his closest counterpart Independent candidate Michael Wambugu Wainaina who got 12 138 votes (25,15%).

In July, he was involved in a grisly road accident while driving in Ruiru and is yet to fully recover.

His leg was severely injured during the head on collision crash and he had to be put on a wheelchair.

On election day, he was also driven to his polling station in an ambulance to vote.

He remains admitted at a Nairobi Hospital.
