Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto's Message to Governor-elect Joyce Laboso

Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has spoken for the first time since his loss to Dr Joyce Laboso in the August polls.

Mr Ruto, who failed to defend his seat on a Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) ticket, stated that he was ready to hand over power to Laboso during her swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

"Let Dr Laboso continue with development activities from where I left and do more for Bomet people in her administration since this is what they are yearning for," he explained.

He added that he would not challenge Dr Laboso’s win, even though he claimed that the results had been doctored.

Mr Ruto added that he was willing to work with the governor-elect, adding that he hopes she will not sack employees hired during his tenure.

Speaking on his future in the National Super Alliance (NASA), Ruto confirmed that he was still aligned to the coalition.

"I am in NASA today and in future, because its agenda matches with my agenda for the people of Kenya and we all respect the spirit of devolution," he maintained.

He further faulted IEBC for declaring President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the poll without having received all the Forms 34A and 34B.

Dr Laboso clinched the governorship with 176,511 votes against Ruto who garnered 86,189 votes.
