Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has for the first time revealed who he claims caused his loss in the gubernatorial race.
Speaking to elected members of his Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party, Ruto accused police officers of being used to interfere with the election process in the County.
He claimed that some of his agents were arrested on the eve of the election and locked up to ensure they did not monitor the voting process.
The outgoing Governor alleged that the electoral agency used the police to accuse his agents of bribery, claims which he dismissed.
He, however, noted that he would not contest incoming county boss Joyce Laboso's win but would just monitor how the new team will implement development projects.
“Some of these agents did not reach the polling stations for the assigned duties.
“I have told the people I’m not ready to move to court to challenge the results, but I want to rest and see how these people will carry on development in the region in their tenure of office,” he announced.
Ruto maintained that there was no bad blood between him and Laboso assuring that he would work with her to ensure progress is achieved.
He further divulged that he was ready to participate in the smooth transition of power by meeting with Laboso and the team planning the hand-over ceremony.
“I will work in harmony with her and I’m appealing to her to do more progress from where I left so that our people can continue enjoying services they deserve,” Ruto stated.
