16 Presidential Ballots Boxes Found Broken and Seal Removed in Nairobi

16 presidential ballot boxes were found broken and the seals removed in Embakasi South constituency, Nairobi County.

Police arrested three people among them two IEBC officials who were found inside one of the halls in Embakasi Girls High School where the ballot boxes had been found.

Outgoing Embakasi South MP Irshadali Sumra stated that the officials had gained access to the room under the pretense of getting something from the hall when they tampered with the ballot boxes.

"According to the rules governing IEBC, it is illegal that the ballots boxes were open and it is only the court that had the power to open them," he stated.

He added that they would present the evidence of the unsealed ballots to the courts to aid in the National Super Alliance case in the Supreme court.

"We have taken pictures and videos as evidence to present in the supreme court to show the malpractices that have cost NASA leader Raila Odinga the election,"

However, Nairobi County Elections Manager Joseph Elee Meroo clarified that the IEBC officials were actually retrieving the Form 34A's that were mistakenly sealed in the ballot boxes.

"The officers were retrieving Form 34As  that were erroneously sealed within ballot boxes.

We were to have them and present them for the gazettement of the results," he maintained.
