President Uhuru Kenyatta Urges Jubilee Nairobi MCAs to Elect Beatrice Elachi as County Assembly Speaker

President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly made a decision as to who will be Jubilee's candidate for Nairobi County Assembly.

The decision was apparently made after President Kenyatta met with Nairobi Jubilee Party Leaders on Saturday at State House, where he reportedly issued an "executive order" on his preferred candidate.

The Nation reports that the Ward Representatives were told that former nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi would be Jubilee’s candidate for the seat and were ordered to marshal their majority in the assembly “to get the job done”.

Confirming the matter, Roysambu MCA Peter Warutere noted that the choice was brought forth by the President and they all agreed to heed.

“We had a meeting with the President Uhuru Kenyatta where we chose our leaders ahead of starting house business. We are happy with the choices we made,” Warutere stated.

The leaders are also reported to have settled on Kamangu Nyumu Ruai ward MCA as Ms Elachi's deputy.

In the new arrangement, former Minority Leader, Matopeni MCA Abdi Guyo Hussein will be the new Majority Leader in the assembly, while Mwaura Chege (Ngara) will take the Majority Whip slot while Mark Ndungu (Maringo/Hamza), Cyrus Mathara (Dandora 2) and Patricia Mutheu (Mlango Kubwa) will form members of the speakers panel.

Other Jubilee politicians who were eyeing the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker's seat that include; former Makadara MP Benson Mutura, former Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant Rachel Shebesh and Karen Nyamu.

Meanwhile, NASA Ward Representatives also held a similar seating where former Nairobi County Chief of Staff George Wainaina was proposed as their candidate for the Speaker’s seat.

Baba Dogo MCA Godfrey Majiwa and former Majority Leader Elias Otieno will battle it out for the Minority Leader seat.
