A 33-year old man in Taita Taveta County has surrendered himself to the police after he allegedly beheaded his two sons.
Reports indicate that Charles Mutuku butchered the children aged five and eight years after he disagreed with their mother.
The incident occurred in Njukini area, Taveta Sub-county, where Mr Mutuku's family lived.
According to eyewitnesses, a family disagreement ensued between Mr Mutuku and his wife who was forced to escape with their newly-born daughter leaving the sons with their father.
Taita Taveta Police Commander Fred Ochieng also confirmed that the wife spent a night at a friends place and did not witness her sons' murder.
"The wife spent a night at a friend’s place and upon returning to her home the following morning, she found the bodies of her two sons lying lifeless," he said.
Police launched investigations into the case on Thursday morning and the suspect will be arraigned in court later in the day.
The bodies of the deceased boys have been moved from their home to Taita Taveta Sub County Hospital mortuary.
On Wednesday, a man was also arrested after he walked into a church in Ngong, and confessed to a pastor that he was among those who killed two police officers in Kiambu last week.
The unidentified man claimed he was among gunmen who shot dead Martin Irungu and Paul Maina.
