ODM Chairman John Mbadi Supports Garissa Town MP Aden Duale for Majority Leader Seat

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi has revealed three reasons why Garissa Town Member of Parliament (MP)  Aden Duale is well suited for the majority leader position in the National Assembly.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Citizen TV on Thursday, Mbadi, who is the MP-elect for Suba South Constituency and ODM point man, stated “during the previous parliament, Duale did very well. And for a Majority Leader, you need a loyalist to the party.”

The ODM Chairman further noted that the position needed someone with a passion for the job.

He commended Duale for his passion to push the agenda of the Jubilee Party in the parliament.

"You need the majority leader who will push the agenda of the party, not the speaker," he conveyed.

The ODM chairman also pointed out that during his term as majority leader, Duale understood his legislative role enabling him to execute his job effectively.

“Maybe there were researchers behind him but I can tell you for a fact that Duale understood every piece of legislation tabled in Parliament,” Mbadi opined.

The MP-Elect, however, noted that there were certain aspects that the Majority leader should work on to portray himself in a better light.

"He was a bit reckless in his talks. If he could moderate what he says especially in the sensitive matters such as advocating for Al Shabaab to go and bomb this area and also when he verbally attacked Isaac Ruto with his ‘Hii pesa si ya mamako’ statement,” Mbadi stated.

He advised Duale to understand that the majority leader position is a constitutional role and should watch what he says inside and outside of the house.

“People need to see a leader that is humble, a leader that would portray serious leadership skills,” he concluded.
