Six computers have been stolen from the Nyamira County Government Treasury offices.
According to Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, suspected raiders broke into the premises and only took away computers.
Nyagarama expressed confidence that the culprits would soon be known following conclusion of investigations.
The Governor noted that he had ordered an audit of all the county's departments before new officials take over as he restructures his government.
He said the office holders will be investigated and action taken against those found guilty of any offence.
"We have handed over the matter to the police and we believe they will find the culprits," Nyangarama stated.
Nyamira South OCPD Riko Ngare stated that the gangsters did not break the door to the offices adding that the theft was an inside job.
Operations at the offices came to a standstill as security officers dusted for finger prints to use in the probe.
