Boni Khalwale Breaks Silence on His Next Move After Losing Kakamega Governorship Race

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has today announced his next move after losing in the recent elections.

In a tweet, the former Senator noted that after consultations and meditation, he had decided not to petition the win of incumbent Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

"After listening to my inner voice and advice by our elders through Mzee Mulusa Khamadi, I've opted not to challenge Governor Oparanya's rigged election," he stated.

On Monday, Khalwale revealed that he had been in consultations with several leaders including Jubilee-allied Speaker, Ken Lusaka ahead of the upcoming repeat Presidential election.

He stated that he was determined to consolidate the Luhya vote and was in talks with various leaders to plot the next move.

The former Kakamega Senator stated on Twitter, “It will help if my community votes 100% as a block at this unprecedented election. So far I've consulted Weta/Speaker Lusaka/Hon Wekesa/etc.”

He noted that he had been in talks with Ford Kenya party leader and NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula, newly-appointed Senate Speaker and one of Jubilee’s founding fathers Noah Wekesa.

As one of NASA’s most vocal supporters in recent times, Khalwale is expected to play a major role in Raila Odinga’s vote-hunting mission in Kakamega and the larger Western region.

The bullfighter, as he is also referred to, lost to Oparanya in the Kakamega Gubernatorial contest but appeared dissatisfied with the results. He garnered 135, 543 against Oparanya's 390, 164 votes.
