Motion to Reconstitute Kenya's Supreme Court to be Tabled in Parliament

A Kitui West Member of Parliament (MP) has vowed to table a motion in Parliament to push for the reconstitution of the Supreme Court following its decision to nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.

Nimrod Mbai Mbithuku stated that there is no justice in the supreme court because the decision by the seven-judge bench to nullify Mr Kenyatta's win is final and cannot be challenged.

He vowed to table a motion in Parliament seeking the reconstitution of the highest court in the land to allow for an appellate chamber to be introduced.

The appeal chamber, he noted, will enable the re-hearing of the presidential petition cases once a ruling is made by the apex court.

The first-time MP bashed NASA presidential candidate Kalonzo Musyoka for misleading Ukambani youth into supporting the Opposition.

Mr Mbithiku noted that the NASA principal is misguiding the young people while in his youthful years he worked for the State right from former president Moi's regime.

The Jubilee politician also dismissed Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu's statement that Mr Kenyatta will not get votes in Ukambani noting that she will be surprised.

He promised to lead a  massive campaign in the region to seek the re-election of President Kenyatta indicating that the youth had faith in him.

A week ago, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria also stated that he would table a motion in Parliament proposing that the Supreme Court be restricted on how it can annul a presidential poll.

According to the MP, he will seek legislation to ensure the Court will require a minimum of five judges to overturn results.

Kuria expressed confidence that he would get the support of two-thirds majority which translates to 233 members on the two motions.
