Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu's governorship is at stake after former Governor Julius Malombe moved to court to challenge the election outcome.
Mr Malombe faulted the IEBC system noting that the results which declared Ngilu as the governor were not corroborative.
In the petition, Malombe has cited Ngilu as the first respondent and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the second respondent.
The former governor also mentioned Kitui County Returning Officer Gogo Nguma as the third respondent.
Charity Ngilu won the gubernatorial race with 170,031 votes beating the former governor who garnered 114,527.
The NARC party leader is among the three women who made history after being elected as governors in the country.
The other two are Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Joyce Laboso of Bomet.
Gubernatorial aspirant Martha Karua also moved to court to challenge Ms Waiguru's election, noting that the electoral officials manipulated the election results.
Ms Karua is among dozens of other petitioners who have filed petitions across the country challenging the results of various elective seats.
The many petitions have been filed following the Supreme Court decision that nullified August 8th presidential results released by IEBC which declared Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner.
