Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku Appoints ODM Politician Into His Cabinet

Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who was elected on a Jubilee ticket, has made a rare move after appointing an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politician into his government.

Lenku included Esther Somoire in his list of nominees for County Executive Committee (CEC) members who are to help him implement his manifesto.

Ms Somoire, who unsuccessfully vied for the Woman Representative seat in the August election, has been Mr Lenku's preferred candidate for the health docket.

Others nominated candidates for the CEC position include; Alex Kilowua for Roads, Joseph Sankale for the Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural  Resources and Michael Semera for the County Treasury.

Carolyn Chege was named the nominee for the CEC Public Service, Administration, and Citizen Participation.

While presenting the names of his preferred candidates, the Governor asked the County Assembly members to speed up the vetting process so that he gets adequate time to perform his duties.

Meanwhile, former Kajiado boss David Nkedianye has  filed a petition challenging Lenku's governorship noting that the former Cabinet Secretary is one of the "computer generated leaders."

Mr Lenku reacted to this move by stating that Mr Nkedianye's decision was not genuine and is one of NASA's ill motives to divide the country.

"Nkedianye had conceded defeat during my inauguration, and I am shocked that opposition leader Raila Odinga is using him to divide the people of Kajiado," he stated.

He further indicated that the economy of the country is at its worst owing to high political temperature generated by the repeat presidential election.
