Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has appointed new officials who will oversee three November mini-elections.
Chebukati gazetted returning officers and their deputies who will be in charge of the November 7 polls for Kitutu Chache South Constituency and Bogichora and Masalani Wards in Nyamira and Garissa counties.
In a notice issued on Friday, Chebukati appointed Akumu Imbo Hilda as the Kitutu-Chache Returning Officer and Sylvia Kemunto Ondimu as her deputy.
He further named Ibrahim Abdi Farah as Masalani Ward Returning Officer to be deputised by Hussein Hirab Shurie.
He also appointed Otieno Mayo Samson as the Bogichora Constituency Returning Officer with Isaiah Misonge as his deputy.
The polls in the two counties were postponed following the deaths of Jubilee Party candidates Leonard Gwaro (Kitutu Chache South), Onsomu Okebiro (Bogichora) and National Super Alliance (NASA) candidate Ibrahim Abdullahi Muktar (Masalani).
Muktar was killed in a tragic road accident on July 6 while travelling to a campaign rally, while Gwaro died on July 8 after he was involved in a road accident along the Kisii-Kisumu highway.
Okebiro, on the other hand, died in the hospital four days to August 8 elections following a long illness.
Jubilee Party handed a direct ticket to former Kisii County Jubilee Youth Campaign Coordinator Anthony Kibagendi for the Kitutu Chache parliamentary seat.
Kibagendi defected to Jubilee after losing in the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) party nominations in May.
