Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto Abandoned After Supporting Uhuru

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has been abandoned by a section of Bomet Chama Cha Masinani (CCM) officials after he ditched Opposition Leader Raila Odinga's team and joined President Uhuru Kenyatta's group.

Speaking to journalists in Bomet on Sunday, CCM officials dismissed Ruto's decision to back Jubilee in the October 17 repeat presidential election and vowed to support Mr Odinga's bid.

"Ruto has become too cheap to a point of being lured with Jubilee Party handouts. He has forgotten his cause of bettering Kenyan's livelihoods. Shame," one of the officials stated.

Political activist Alvin Koech who was a close ally of the former Governor stated that Ruto did not consult the party members before making the move.

"Jubilee does not subscribe to NASA or CCM ideology of pushing for 45 per cent of funds to be sent to the counties.

"Following this, it was foolhardy for Ruto to make a hasty decision of supporting Jubilee. He did so for his selfish interests," Koech stated.

Koech further noted that the Party Leader's decision would not deter CCM followers in Bomet from voting for Mr Odinga in next month's election as he not moved with the entire party.

He called on all CCM members across the country to rally behind the opposition and ignore Ruto's defection.

On Friday, Ruto and his allies Former Legislators Zakayo Cheruiyot (Kuresoi South), Patrick Ole Ntutu (Narok West) and Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno ditched NASA and joined Jubilee.

Ruto and team noted that only fools don't change their mind adding that they were fully behind Kenyatta and were confident that he would emerge victorious in the presidential contest.

"I am here to confirm that we have joined you (President Kenyatta) and we will vote for you," the former Bomet Governor stated.
