Jubilee Officials Now Threaten to Boycott October Elections

Over 1000 Jubilee Agents in Kilifi county have threatened to boycott the upcoming presidential elections if they are not paid their dues for monitoring the August polls.

The disgruntled party officials lamented how the leadership in the county was withholding their pay even though they faced insurmountable challenges serving the party in what is a perceived National Super Alliance (NASA) stronghold.

The agents called on the Party Leadership to hurriedly settle their payment for them to offer their services in the upcoming election.

"My life is in danger as I currently do not live in Malindi anymore. I am away from my children because the money has not been dispersed yet," Malindi Chief agent Lilian Ruwa disclosed.

The agents further stated that the party secretariat owed them 4.5M for the days they worked before, during and after the general elections adding that they would decamp to the opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) if their aggrievances weren't addressed.

The threat comes only a day after a section of Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs) threatened to support NASA leader Raila Odinga in the repeat presidential elections unless President Uhuru Kenyatta fulfills some demands.

The MPs from West Pokot and Baringo counties now want the Jubilee government to suspend the ongoing military operation in the volatile region and release all suspected bandits.

In a meeting held at Tangulbei, Baringo County, Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto indicated that residents in the area had been subjected to untold suffering in the hands of security officers undertaking the operation.

The same was reiterated by Tiaty MP, William Kamket, who declared that residents would vote for Odinga if the demands are not adhered to.

“The people of Tiaty will vote for the Opposition just as they did in the August elections since they were neglected and sidelined by the Government.

"However, they are ready to vote for Jubilee on condition that the Government halts the operation and orders the removal of all armored vehicles in the region,” the Tiaty MP noted.
