Police Boss Arrested After Dramatically Shooting at School Boy

A police Officer Commanding Station (OCS) was on Tuesday locked up and disarmed for having opened fire at unarmed civilians while drunk.

Chief Inspector Simon Mugira, Nguutani Police Station OCS, has also been relieved of his duties after serving at the Kitui station for two weeks.

The area OCPD, Julius Muu, confirmed the events adding that his team could not establish why the drunk officer shot at innocent civilians on Monday morning.

"As for now he is not on duty and we are keenly watching him as we investigate the matter further. We have also confiscated his Ceska pistol," Mr Muu told reporters.

According to a statement filed by an eyewitness, Peter Sila, the OCS shot at a schoolboy.

"At around 6.45am, he is said to have walked outside the bar where he found a young boy fetching water from a nearby tap. The officer chased the boy then shot at him as he fled. Luckily, the boy escaped unhurt as the bullet missed him.

"I went out and found it was the OCS. I tried to calm him down but he could not listen and continued flashing the pistol to shoot," the report read in part.

The OCS was later arrested at his rented house and the disciplinary action taken against him.
