Billionaire Jimmy Wanjigi Accuses IG Joseph Boinnet of Ignoring Threats Against His Life

Billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has revealed that Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has been ignoring complaints that his (Wanjigi) life is in danger.

Last week, Wanjigi wrote to Boinnet requesting to be accorded State security at his own cost, claiming he was being trailed.

Through his lawyer Elizabeth Karoki, Mr Wanjigi alleged that he was being constantly trailed, day and night by unknown vehicles.

He further disclosed that on September 8th, a top State House official visited him at his home and warned him of a real and imminent threat to his life.

Wanjigi reported the matter to Gigiri Police Station and it was recorded under OB number 14/10/9/2.

In a new letter, Wanjigi has now sought the intervention of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to compel an investigation into threats against his life.

“We are therefore calling upon you to intervene and direct the IG to comprehensively investigate our client’s report as requested in our said letter,” he told the DPP.

He further stated that despite complaining to police earlier, no one had contacted him for further verification.

“To date, the IG has ignored and/or failed to respond to or acknowledge our said letter, despite the urgency called for,” Wanjigi said in a letter.

He also took issue with Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro’s remarks quoted in a local daily dismissing the threats as false.

Wanjigi copied the September 20 letter to Boinnet, asking him to respond to his earlier one.

Sources said Wanjigi had been forced to change his residence, vehicles and the times he leaves his workplace.
