Barclays Bank of Kenya has closed two of its branches in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) in line with the earlier announcement that it would close seven of its branches.
On Thursday, the bank management sent alerts to its customers notifying them of the closures while giving them alternative branches that would offer services.
Haile Selassie and Moi Avenue branches will be shut down in the initial phase of merging the banks' several branches.
Moi Avenue branch operations will be transferred to Queensway branch while the Haile Selassie branch operations will be moved to Harambee Avenue branch effective October 1st.
"You can also do your banking via our mobile and online banking platforms or at any post office countrywide,” read the alert.
Other Barclays Bank branches which will be shut down include the Waiyaki Way, Kawangware and Rahimtulla branches, a unit in Meru and another in Wundayi.
In July, Barclays announced the plan to close seven of its branches beginning October as a cost-cutting measure that has become necessary with the current market realities.
In the same month, the bank rolled out an early retirement scheme which saw 130 workers exit with a one-month salary for every year worked.
