Through a Facebook post, Kuria highlighted what is now believed to have been the former MP's final correspondence.

The deceased MP questioned: "Why should Justice Smokin Wanjala be travelling outside the country on such a historic date? Mimi nimeenda (I have gone)."

Moses Kuria then went on to convey a message to the Supreme Court Judge, urging him to clarify why he took the said trip.

"Dear Justice Smokin Wanjala. Please find the highlighted question by the late Joel Onyancha in our Mbele Iko Sawa WhatsApp group moments before he died of what is believed to be a heart attack.

"For your conscience, you may want to respond posthumously to the entire nation," Kuria advised.

According to Chief Justice David Maraga, Justice Wanjala travelled out of the country on Wednesday morning but had already signed the majority judgment.

Reports suggested that the judge had travelled to London to attend a graduation ceremony.
