Raila Claims Supreme Court Judge Spent Saturday at State House

National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has revealed that one of the Supreme Court judges spent part of the weekend at State House.

Speaking during a presser at the Okoa Kenya headquarters, Odinga on Friday claimed that one of the judges who issued a dissenting ruling in the presidential petition had been invited to State House by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Though he failed to mention the name, the NASA leader alleged that the judge spent the whole of Saturday celebrating the dissenting ruling.

"We challenge Uhuru Kenyatta to deny that one of the dissenting judges spent all Saturday at State House at his invitation, in celebration of the dissenting ruling ahead of its delivery," he stated.

The two who issued the minority judgement in the ruling are Lady Justice Njoki Ndung'u and Justice Jackton Ojwang'

On the issue of the upcoming presidential election, Odinga maintained that the Opposition had not been consulted on the October 26 date announced by the IEBC.

He maintained that all stakeholders would have added their voice to the matter insisting that there would be no election on the said day.

He further claimed that the date was set by OT-Morpho, the French firm that supplied the electronic system used to transmit results in the August elections.

According to Raila, the IEBC consulted President Kenyatta in choosing the new election date which happens to be his (Uhuru's) birth date.

"It also happens to be Uhuru Kenyatta's birthday so they want to give him as a birthday present," he noted.

The former Prime Minister further indicated that the NASA coalition has never been involved in any kind of consultations with the IEBC since the release of the Supreme court's full verdict on nullification of the August election.

Odinga lamented that IEBC ignored NASA's suggestion that the fresh election be held on October 24th on grounds that it would affect examinations, only to settle for the new date which is just two days away.
