North Rift Leaders Announce They Will Not Allow Coalition Government

2 Jubilee governors; Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu) and his Nandi counterpart Stephen Sang' have issued a tough warning to Raila Odinga over his recent remarks claiming that there will be no election.

Speaking at a funeral held in Mosoriot, Nandi County on Saturday, Governor Sang' announced: "Raila is always claiming his victory has been stolen come election time. He is not a democrat and should, in fact, quit politics and let the country move on if he cannot respect the will of the people through the ballot."

Speaking at a separate function, Governor Mandago stated: "Kenyans will have to vote as announced by the IEBC. If NASA does not want the election, let them keep off."

MPs Alfred Keter and Oscar Sudi accused the National Super Alliance(NASA) Presidential Candidate of planning to force a coalition government with Jubilee by creating a constitutional crisis.

Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter stated: "I want to state categorically explain that leaders from the North will not permit a coalition government. If he(Raila) wants to be in government he should defeat us."

Their sentiments were backed by Deputy Governor Yulita Mitei, Senator Samson Cherargei, Woman Representative Tecla Tum, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Chepsumei's Wilson Kogo and Cornelly Serem of Aldai.

This is after NASA announced that there will be no election on the set date, October 26th, if their demands for electoral reforms dubbed 'irreducible minimums' are not met.

The opposition coalition has called for the removal from office and prosecution of IEBC officials they accuse of bungling the nullified August polls.

The Supreme Court found that the August election was marred by irregularities and illegalities but did not find any IEBC official criminally culpable for the blunders that led to the election's nullification.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has ordered a probe into the conduct of the electoral body's officials following the full Supreme Court ruling that was delivered on Wednesday.

Mr Tobiko has ordered Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief Ndegwa Muhoro and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Halaqhe Waqo to report their findings back to him in 21 days.
