About 10 students of Daystar University - Athi River campus have been admitted to hospital with Cholera.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the University's Corporate Affairs Manager, Damaris Kimilu, stated that the first student was diagnosed over the weekend and was quickly attended to at the campus' medical centre.
Several others who complained of similar symptoms were also taken to different hospitals for treatment and are currently in stable condition.
Mrs Kimilu further added that the institution had taken quick measures to ensure the situation was contained, including educating students on personal hygiene.
"We have held sessions with students teaching them about personal hygiene and we have also engaged the community by briefing them on the measures to take in order to avoid an outbreak," stated Kimilu.
She further added that the university was working with public health officials to ensure the safety of students and the community at large.
Last month, 10 police officers were quarantined in a hospital in Rongai after showing cholera symptoms.
The officers were part of a team that had been camping in hostels at the Multimedia University ready for action over the Supreme Court ruling.
Police said the victims started to complain of stomach pain and diarrhoea before they were rushed to Sinai Hospital where they were admitted.
Cases of cholera have been on the rise in Nairobi and its outskirts and the public has been urged to practice personal hygiene and cleanliness to avoid outbreaks.
