Abduba Dida Sends Message to President Uhuru, Raila and Chebukati On Fresh Polls

Former Presidential Candidate Abduba Dida has today held a press conference where he spoke on various issues surrounding the fresh elections set for October 26th.

Dida, who ran on a Tunza Coalition ticket in the nullified August polls, had a message for President Uhuru Kenyatta. He stated: "Sincerely speaking, Uhuru needs three months rehabilitation, urgent. If you love him and respect him please take him there."

Dida also advised National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga not to engage in street protests to force out IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.

He appealed to the former Prime Minister's team, stating: "Kindly anybody who is advising Raila, as much as you are addicted to the tear gas, please don't do it tomorrow."

He added that he would put Mr Odinga in charge of human rights in his government because he (Raila) knows how to "set things right", but noted that he does not believe Raila would make a good leader.

Abduba Dida also urged Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials to vacate office as soon as possible to restore public trust in the electoral body.

Speaking on the fate of IEBC staff, he noted: "It is ethical and professional that they go...We can get a new team, in fact, today. Chebukati is well informed, but he takes a lot of time. Before Raila comes for him, he should move very fast."

Dida also protested the limiting of the fresh Presidential Election to two candidates.

He urged all Kenyans, civil societies and politicians to speak on the issue, noting that a definition was needed of what constitutes a fresh election as opposed to a re-run.

Thirdway Alliance candidate Ekuru Aukot had moved to the Supreme Court to contest the decision to only involve President Uhuru and Raila in the repeat election. He, however, failed to secure a ruling guaranteeing the participation of other candidates in the fresh poll.
