The National Super Alliance (NASA) has issued the government with a 24-hour notice to restore presidential candidate Raila Odinga and running mate Kalonzo Musyoka's security detail which has apparently been withdrawn.
Orange Democratic Movement Chairman John Mbadi stated: "We hereby give the State 24 hours to return our leaders' security or else they will face mass action right at their doorstep."
The Suba South MP further announced that if any harm was to befall either Odinga or Kalonzo, the blame would be squarely on President Uhuru's shoulders.
Addressing a press conference at Orange house on Tuesday morning, Mbadi declared; "Kenyans are ready to provide security to Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka."
It had emerged earlier in the morning that the security detail assigned to Raila and Kalonzo had been withdrawn.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka stated: "Withdrawal of my security and that of Raila's is illegal, the law requires Presidential candidates have an all-around security protection."
He revealed that his bodyguards were withdrawn on Monday evening.
Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango announced that five bodyguards attached to the former premier were last night ordered to report back to General Service Unit (GSU) Headquarters. They were reportedly told to hand over their police radios so that they do not monitor police communication.
The NASA leaders have alleged that this is part of a wider scheme by Jubilee to plunge the country into chaos with the involvement of top security officials Ndegwa Muhoro of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome.
NASA is today holding demonstrations at IEBC's Anniversary Towers offices to demand the resignation of the electoral body's CEO, Ezra Chiloba, whom they accuse of engaging in electoral fraud to aid Jubilee in the nullified August polls.
