Final Verdict Issued on Man Linked to DP Ruto Home's Attack

The court has issued its final ruling on the suspect linked to the attack on Deputy President William Ruto's Sugoi home.

Ali Elma Wario, who is Ethiopian, was accused of being in the country illegally and was fined Sh 50,000.

Failure to pay the money, the suspect who pleaded guilty to breaching the Kenyan immigration laws will serve a one-month jail term.

Mr Wario was arrested after the July attack where the main assailant Mohammed Ibrahim Mahammud was neutralised and was found to be residing in Moyale without a valid Visa.

Wario is suspected of communicating with his accomplices outside the country and is a danger to the public according to Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot.

He denied being a member of Al Shabaab terrorist group and an accomplice of Mahammud, who was killed at the residence of DP Ruto in Uasin Gishu County.

The suspect worked in Moyale township for two months before his arrest and was charged afresh after initial charges of being an accomplice of Mr Mohammud were withdrawn by a Marsabit court for lack of evidence.

Wario explained to the court that he moved to Moyale to seek employment.

Police claimed he was in constant communication with the slain assailant on the day of attack at Ruto's home.
