President Uhuru Kenyatta Buys Sh1.2 Million Bull

President Uhuru Kenyatta beat Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to buy one bull for Sh1.2 Million.

During the auction held at the Nairobi International Trade Fair on Tuesday, the President took the champion bull while Sonko bought the reserve champion bull for Sh1 Million.

President Kenyatta donated the 700 Kilogramme bull to the Nairobi County National Police Service.

He was at Jamhuri Grounds to officially open the International Trade Fair.

Among the exhibitors at the event was the Kenya Seed Company which has produced the champion bulls for five years in a row.

The company's Managing Director, Mr, Azaria Soi when asked about the bulls stated: “All you need is just access to the right quality of feed and genetics, of course, that is you have to know which breed can grow to be this big.” 

The President's speech focused largely on highlighting his Government's efforts to boost the agricultural sector.

He further noted how the government came up with a subsidy programme to lower the cost of maize flour following shortage of supply.

He stated: "As a caring Administration, we had to take steps to cushion consumers against the high food prices.We instituted and successfully implemented a subsidized maize flour programme that lowered the price of a 2kg packet of maize flour from Ksh 150 to Ksh 90."

He visited various exhibitors' stands showcasing diverse products alongside the Governor.
