Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Friday angered a section of National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters after he failed to take part in the anti-IEBC protests.
Speaking to the media during the protests, a section of the demonstrators stated that they were unhappy with Joho's decision to miss the protest and instead sent Deputy Governor William Kingi to represent him.
The group noted that it was also not right for Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi to be the leader of the protest attended by legislators Abdulawamad Nassir (Mvita), Badi Twalib (Jomvu) and Woman Representative Aisha Mohammed.
"If Joho will not be here Monday, we will not take part," one of the protesters stated.

Governor Joho's Communications Director, Richard Chacha, while speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, explained that the ODM deputy leader missed the protests since he was attending to other official functions.
" He is out of town in Nairobi for official governor business," Chacha stated.
Mr Chacha, however, explained that the Governor was fully involved in the planning of the demos adding that he (Joho) was using his foot soldiers to represent him.
As to whether the Governor would attend the Monday demos, Chacha stated that "it is too early to tell".

The Opposition conducted its anti-demos in different parts of the country including Kisumu and Nairobi.
In Kisumu, rowdy youth looted a supermarket, destroyed property and blocked roads whereas in Nairobi the protests were calm compared to previous weeks.
