NASA Protesters Raid Supermarket, Destroy Property [PHOTOS]

Police have been forced to shoot in the air to disperse rowdy anti-IEBC demonstrators in Kisumu after they broke into Tumaini supermarket.

Reports indicate that the rowdy youth forced their way and broke into the Supermarket and an eatery and looted merchandise

According to some of the locals, the angry youth raided the supermarket after they were denied access to IEBC offices in the county.

The demonstrators also destroyed Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) water lines, affecting water supply to estates.

The youth also lit bonfires and blocked roads in the town creating a totally chaotic scene.

Following the chaos, police fired in the air to disperse the crowd forcing businesses to close down.

In Nairobi, the Mathare-Juja road was closed after protestors lit a fire in the middle of the road before paralysing transport in the area.

Opposition supporters also demonstrated outside the IEBC offices at Anniversary Towers but no chaos were reported.

The protests come even as the Government warned the Opposition against conducting the demos outside IEBC offices.

Speaking on Thursday, Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe warned the coalition against holding the demos stating that they have disrupted business in the CBD.

He urged the opposition leaders to sell their agenda peacefully without inciting Kenyans.

“As we emphasize that it is your right to participate in such demonstrations, we want citizens to know that for over six months now, the economy has greatly slowed down and as a country, we cannot afford this trend,” stated Kiraithe.
