Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday made a humble request to Opposition leader Raila Odinga asking him to desist from threats that he will boycott the election.
Speaking in Mombasa, DP Ruto stated that the country needed peace and called on Mr Odinga to avoid excuses and face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the October election to ensure that Kenya moves forward.
"As you can see these fellow wants to avoid the poll citing excuses. We want to ask them, let them be honorable and face President Kenyatta on the ballot or they should not have an alternative of making our country ungovernable because that’s not acceptable,” he stated.

The DP cautioned the Opposition against placing obstacles ahead of the fresh presidential poll adding that Odinga plans to sabotage the election slated for October 26 by giving excuses to boycott the process.
DP Ruto made the remarks following consistent threats by NASA leaders that they will not participate in the October election if their demands are not met by the IEBC.
"IEBC is the thief that stole the elections on behalf of Jubilee. This is the Kibra Declaration. There will be no election on October 17 if our demands are not met. It will not happen," Odinga vowed in an earlier rally.
Last month, the Opposition came up with 12 'irreducible minimums' they want the IEBC to make before the repeat election.
Some of the changes the coalition wants IEBC to make include the firing of Senior IEBC officials led by CEO Ezra Chiloba.
NASA has also demanded that the Commission fires all the 290 Returning Officers who presided in the nullified election and new ones hired for the October poll.

The Opposition further wants a different firm to print the election ballot papers and a new IT firm hired to supply the IEBC with electronic votes transmission kits.
