Top Kenyan Lawyers Clash Over Presidential Election

Pro-Jubilee lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi and National Super Alliance supporter Donald Kipkorir have clashed again over the interpretation of the withdrawal of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga from the October 26 poll.

The two top lawyers engaged in a battle of tweets, seeking to show their prowess in legal matters.

Mr Kipkorir and Abdullahi have brought the courtroom competition to Twitter this time, each trying to outdo the other on where the political current is headed.

Their tweets have grown to reflect the political climate in the country, where there is a division between the government and the Opposition.

When Baba says your girlfriend is pregnant, she is; when he says you go, for sure, you will ... So, Dear Chiloba, save us time for 17.10.17.

Only Allah knows what will happen tomorrow...today CHILOBA is in office...Baba is no longer in the race...parachuted.. https://t.co/kLenBCwq8u

My friend @ahmednasirlaw , you were a teacher of the law, Chairman of LSK, Member of JSC & SC, why do you want to bring down the Judiciary?

The proposed amendments to the electoral laws are minor & insubstantial. The laws are being amended because our courts in interpreting the law cannot be trusted to be sensible. Parliament is legislating on the obvious & for the benefit of our courts &..."out of abundant caution"

In a tweet by Mr. Kipkorir, he stated that Odinga is always correct when he calls for the resignation of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.

Mr. Abdullahi had a few words too for the lawyer claiming that the NASA leader had mystical powers that forced Kipkorir to support him.

Sad Kenyans, whether illiterate villager or Ivy League Law Graduate has a price tag. I stand to be counted amongst those free of price tags.

When my freind Don pledges loyalty to Baba...wise choice, when another Kenyan declares he is 4 HE Uhuru...a sell-out..Range Rover hypocrisy! https://t.co/Vy3s6h6X4T

The embarrassing ballyhoo lately unleashed by my good friend @DonaldBKipkorir in describing the mythical power of Baba would have made a medieval courtier proud. https://t.co/kLenBCwq8u

The two also had a heated exchange after Abdullahi told Kipkorir he was punching above his weight with his opinion about the Supreme Court.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who is also a lawyer by profession, has not been left out of the Twitter battles.

If you lost a seat last election mca, MP, Senator or Gov and you have nothing to do, Kindly drop you cv at the DP's office! @HonAdenDuale

Former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna and analyst Mutahi Ngunyi have also had a share of the online brawl regarding the ongoing political tussle.

If RAILA did NOT WITHDRAW using Form 24A, his WITHDRAWAL is NULL and VOID. A letter is NOT enough. If he USED 24A, election is 10th Jan 2018

Mr. @MutahiNgunyi, when did the @IEBCKenya conduct FRESH presidential nominations from which @RailaOdinga had to withdraw? #Ballot2017 https://t.co/avyozFtqtp

There is no love lost among these legal minds and they have avoided the tribal narrative that has regularly been witnessed in the Kenyan political scene.
