President Uhuru Kenyatta Apologises to Jubilee Supporters

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday apologised to Jubilee supporters in Laikipia County after he failed to show up for a rally the previous day.

Addressing residents in Nyahururu, the President disclosed that he ran out of time to make the visit after attending prayers at Subukia Shrines in Nakuru on Saturday.

"I wish to start by apologising and seeking forgiveness because the other day we were to visit you but only reached Shamata (Nyandarua). Time ran out and we could not make it," Kenyatta explained.

He, however, assured that even though they were unable to visit the day before, they made an effort to address the residents.

It is during the rally when the President together with DP William Ruto dismissed calls for dialogue with Opposition leader Raila Odinga ahead of the repeat election.

The Head of State explained that Kenyans are the only ones who will decide their President and not dialogue mediated by foreigners.

"We accepted to have a repeat poll despite the fact that we won. We will not be pushed to sit and talk with someone whose main need is to just clinch power.

“The decision of who will lead the nation will be made by the people of Kenya and not anybody else,” President Kenyatta stated.

The Head of State reiterated that there was no crisis in Kenya and it is Mr Odinga who had refused to accept the will of the people.

On Monday, President Kenyatta told the Opposition leader to stop sideshows and allow Kenyans to engage in the election.

Speaking in Garissa, President Kenyatta noted that the duty of electing leaders was the right of every Kenyan and called upon the former Prime Minister to respect this right.

Secondly, the Head of State urged Mr Odinga to respect the Supreme Court ruling which ordered the IEBC to conduct a repeat election in 60 days.
