Raila Ordered to Respond in New Supreme Court Case

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has been ordered to respond to a suit that seeks to overturn the annulment of the August 8th election by the Supreme Court.

Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court Daniel Ole Keiuwa directed Odinga and the Jubilee Party to file and serve replies by close of business on Monday before a date is set for the hearing.

Two businessmen, Jackson Ndegwa and Edward Kings had initially filed the case seeking to have the Supreme Court's majority decision reversed, but the case was rejected.

They then successfully filed an appeal in which it was decided that the case would be heard by a single judge of the Supreme Court bench.

The two want to overturn the Supreme Court's ruling on grounds that the verdict was erroneous.

They further maintain that the Sh12 Billion to be spent on the repeat poll will seriously dent the nation's economy.

Furthermore, they accuse the highest court in the land of wrongly ruling on the case on the basis of procedural technicalities.

Since the September 1st ruling, the NASA candidate has withdrawn from the Presidential election which he believes is skewed in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"It is my democratic right not to take part in a pre-rigged election," he declared.

The coalition announced the start of daily protests across the country to call for changes to be made at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
