Thirdway Alliance Presidential Candidate Ekuru Aukot Pleads With Raila To Endorse Him

Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate, Dr Ekuru Aukot on Tuesday pleaded with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to endorse his candidature for the repeat presidential election.

Addressing a campaign rally in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, Dr. Aukot argued that if the opposition leader endorsed him he (Aukot) would thrash President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fresh polls.

“As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind if Raila supported me now that he is not interested in the election. It is the only fair way to remove Uhuru from power. I’ll talk to him and I will be happy if he endorses my candidature,” he stated.

Aukot assured his supporters that he will be partaking the repeat poll. He asked the IEBC to assure all candidates that their names shall be configured into the KIEMS kits.

“We have written to IEBC today, requesting a meeting with them to discuss a way forward regarding the KIEMS kits.

"Earlier reports by the electoral commission indicated that only Uhuru and Raila’s names are configured. We, therefore, want the electoral body to reassure us that all other candidates’ names shall be as well,” Dr Aukot stated.

Ekuru faulted mistrust between IEBC and presidential candidates for the standoff experienced.

Earlier in the week, Mr Odinga called Dr Aukot a traitor and a Jubilee puppet for agreeing to participate in a sham process.

“Other candidates got less than one percent in the annulled election. They had conceded. They have less than 10 days to campaign. They shamelessly accepted the offer with a few days left,” Mr Odinga stated.

Dr Aukot hit back at the opposition leader describing his politics as outdated adding that the NASA presidential candidate did not communicate anything meaningful in his rallies.

He maintained that Odinga could not stop an election from taking place on October 26.

"Raila represents the past, the kind of politics we want to rout out. This country is for all of us in equal measure. I would never want to respond to people who communicate nothing in huge crowds. I don’t care what he thinks (Raila Odinga), he won’t stop me,” Aukot declared.
