Nairobi businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has finally emerged from his hideout.
Police left his Muthaiga home on Wednesday morning and Wanjigi was snapped with some of his friends having a hearty laugh.
There were reports that he was hiding in a strongroom in his home and a raid conducted on Tuesday found automatic guns in the house.
Police used sledgehammers and other crude weapons to gain access to the house, forcing Wanjigi to move to court seeking to stop his arrest.
He was granted a Sh50,000 anticipatory bail and the court warned police against destroying his property.
Wanjigi also sued Police Inspector General Joseph Boinnet and Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko over the raid.
Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe, however, stated that the operation at the businessman's home was in the interest of national security.
The raid on the Muthaiga mansion happened after police raided another house in Malindi and recovered five guns and 93 bullets.
Politicians allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) read dirty politics into the incident and expressed fear that the country was going back to the dark days of dictatorship.
NASA leader Raila Odinga, who spent Tuesday evening at Wanjigi's home, also revealed his disappointment at how the businessman was handled.
